Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Kalamazoo, MI

Supporting teens. Strengthening families. Building resilience
.

Kalamazoo Child and Family Counseling (KCFC) offers a specialized Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) designed for teens who need more support than weekly therapy but do not require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Our IOP helps adolescents ages 13–17 build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and strengthen family connections through a structured, evidence-based treatment model.

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program for Teens?

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides comprehensive therapy several days a week while allowing teens to continue living at home and attending school. This level of care is ideal for adolescents who are struggling with:

  • Depression, anxiety, or mood disorders

  • Self-harm behaviors or suicidal thoughts (non-acute)

  • Emotional dysregulation and impulsivity

  • Family conflict or school-related stress

  • Transitioning back to school or community life after hospitalization

Our Kalamazoo IOP offers the intensity of structured treatment without the disruption of residential or inpatient care.

Why Families Choose KCFC’s Adolescent IOP

Parents and providers throughout Southwest Michigan trust KCFC for high-quality adolescent behavioral health services. Our program provides:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Teens

  • Comprehensive Mental Health Care
Group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and—when needed—medication management.

  • Experienced Clinicians
Our team includes licensed therapists, DBT specialists, and a pediatric nurse practitioner with advanced training in child and adolescent psychiatry.

  • Flexible Scheduling
Adolescents receive care 3 days per week, making it possible to continue school and family routines while receiving intensive support.
