Dee Sherwood, Ph.D, LMSW, is a clinical social worker committed to supporting adolescents, teens, and families on their path to healing, growth, and well-being. Her work emphasizes partnership with families to foster resilience and enhance functioning at home, at school, and in the community. With a relational and strength-based approach, Dee creates an affirming, caring environment where each person is empowered to thrive.

Dee brings a deep understanding of how family systems, identity, culture, and environmental stressors shape mental health. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from Michigan State University, and her Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. Her clinical approach integrates evidence-informed interventions with relational and reflective practices to promote well-being.

Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, separation and divorce, life transitions, identity development, gender and sexuality, disability and chronic illness, intergenerational trauma, and the impacts of trauma and systemic stress.

Dee provides evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care that honors each person’s unique strengths, diversity, and family context. In addition to clinical practice, she is a professor of social work, bringing a solid foundation in advocacy, research, and professional excellence to her therapeutic work
