Careers at Kalamazoo Child & Family Counseling

Helping families find more shared joy starts with the people doing the work.

Trusted by more than 4,000 families, Kalamazoo Child & Family Counseling helps children, teens, and caregivers navigate challenging behavior, anxiety, trauma, and other mental health concerns.

We get to see the small changes that become meaningful progress. A parent and child enjoy being together again. A teenager tries something they had been avoiding. A family starts to feel less stuck.

We want clinicians who care about that work. And we believe they deserve a workplace where they can learn, feel supported, and have a fulfilling life outside the office.

A Positive Work Culture

Clinical work can be demanding. Having colleagues you can turn to makes a difference.

We value a positive work culture where people can ask questions, talk through challenges, share ideas, and recognize one another’s progress. We want team members to feel comfortable learning and contributing their experience.

In our July 2026 staff survey, 90% of respondents said they would recommend KCFC as a great place to work.

We are proud of that feedback, and we want to keep earning it.

Work-Life Balance Matters

We believe clinicians should be able to do meaningful work while having time and energy for their own families, relationships, interests, and rest.

Supporting good work-life balance is part of building a practice where people can stay and grow. During the hiring process, we discuss scheduling needs and clinical responsibilities openly so you understand what the position involves and how it fits your life.

Training That Helps You Grow

Working with children and families takes practice. Learning a treatment approach is one step. Becoming comfortable using it with different children, caregivers, and situations takes time.

We invest in supervision, continuing education, and access to clinical training because we want our clinicians to keep developing—and we want families in our community to have access to effective care.

Specific training opportunities depend on your position, clinical interests, and availability. Tell us what you want to learn. Your professional goals are part of the conversation.

A Practice Our Community Trusts

Our relationships with schools, healthcare providers, and other community partners are an important part of our work.

In our July 2026 community partner survey, 100% of respondents agreed that KCFC staff were professional and respectful and that KCFC was a dependable community partner.

Written feedback highlighted our evidence-based treatment options, coordination with primary care providers, and communication with schools and families. Respondents also identified ways we could improve access and clarify service information. We value both kinds of feedback because they help us improve.

Our Values in Everyday Work

Our values are Connection, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence—CARE.

For our team, that means building relationships, following through on commitments, treating people with dignity, and taking the quality of our work seriously.

Children and families bring different experiences, cultures, identities, and perspectives into treatment. Listening carefully and approaching those differences with respect are essential parts of the work.
