Supporting Teens. Strengthening Families. Building Resilience.

Kalamazoo Child and Family Counseling (KCFC) offers a specialized Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for teens who need more support than weekly therapy but do not require inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program for Teens?

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides comprehensive mental health treatment several days a week while allowing teens to continue living at home and attending school. This level of care may be appropriate for adolescents experiencing:

  • Depression, anxiety, or mood disorders
  • Self-harm behaviors or suicidal thoughts that do not require emergency or inpatient care
  • Emotional dysregulation and impulsivity
  • Family conflict or school-related stress
  • A need for additional support following psychiatric hospitalization

Our Kalamazoo Adolescent IOP provides the structure and intensity of a higher level of care while allowing teens to remain connected to their families, schools, and communities.

Why Families Choose KCFC’s Adolescent IOP

KCFC’s Adolescent IOP brings together evidence-based treatment, family involvement, psychiatric care, and specialized services in one coordinated program.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for Teens
Evidence-based treatment focused on helping teens manage intense emotions, reduce unsafe behaviors, tolerate distress, and build healthier relationships.
  • Comprehensive Mental Health Care
Group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, and medication management when appropriate.
  • Experienced Clinicians
Care is provided by a multidisciplinary behavioral health team experienced in working with children, adolescents, and families.
  • Convenient After-School Scheduling
Adolescents participate in programming three days per week, allowing many teens to continue attending school while receiving intensive support.

Adolescent IOP Program Components

Each teen’s treatment plan is individualized and may include:
